Fascinating insights, as always, Martin. You could publish a whole book on contemporary care ethics just with excerpts from your podcast interviews ! The intersection of abortion and care ethics is always a tricky one, because the ethos of care seems to lead towards both sides in different ways. But it seems that in the public debate, abortion is precisely an example of an issue that its detractors would like to frame only in a “patriarchal voice”: ie, thinking about it in terms of abstract morality, blanket right or wrong, e.g. ‘abortion is murder’. Whereas pro-choice activists apply what looks more to me like an ethic of care: thinking closely about particulars, about a specific woman’s situation, etc.

Thanks, Mélina. I'll leave the contentious issue of abortion to one side for now - this isn't the place to get into it, but just to say that I think you can make a care-ethical argument for either side. As for publishing a whole book based on the podcast interviews: well, I have had this idea for a while, of seeing whether a publisher might be interested in a book of transcripts, along the lines of 'Conversations about Care: The Careful Thinking Interviews'...
